Quiet Sanctuary
Bedroom Bliss
Ever since its heyday as a Victorian seaside resort, Dún Laoghaire has attracted those who wish to reset, breathe in the fresh sea air, and unwind. Even today it continues to satisfy the same yearning to switch off from our busy lives and relax. We recognise that this need should be met in Haddington House with utmost comfort and timeless surroundings while respecting the historic nature of our location.
Our design team have selected a traditional aesthetic for the bedrooms, in sympathy with the four Haddington House townhouses’ history. With Victorian panelling, William Morris Seaweed wallpaper, bespoke fringed lamps, deep-sea velvet curtains with pom-pom trims and antique brass details as well as old-style velvet window seat cushions so guests can sit and admire the unrivalled view of the East Pier and Dublin Bay. Button back, tied headboards were created for our Victorian bed frame to match the gorgeous William Morris Seaweed wallpaper and lampshades, and finished with a buttoned velvet ottoman for storage and additional seating.
Each room has a peg rail, with a custom-made satchel by Irish leather smith Mark Inglis, holding a swim basket with bespoke hammam towels for guests to take a dip in the nearby Forty Foot, as well as an Irish merino wool hot water bottle for warming up after.
In keeping with our historic interiors, Rónán Hussey Design was commissioned to produce modern cabinetry with an authentically aged appearance. Topped with marble, aged brass detailing and patina, the finish is exceptional.
Some quiet reading and relaxing before dinner means guests might feel like ambling downstairs to enjoy a little drink in the Parlour, before a vibrant meal in Oliveto, and then a nightcap back in the room, and a restful night’s sleep.
