BY THE SEA
Overlooking Dublin Bay and only 20 minutes from Dublin city, Haddington House is a Grade II-listed building and one of Dun Laoghaire’s oldest townhouses. The original tenants were British Naval officers in the mid-1800s sent by Queen Victoria to manage the empire’s naval affairs. A ladies finishing school followed in the late-1890s (called Haddington House) before the conversion into separate hotels from the 1950s.
In 2015, the team behind Oliveto took over the hotel with the firm intention to unify the houses back under the original brand of Haddington House. Our goal was not merely to produce a ‘typical’ Victorian townhouse lifted straight from a book but to conserve and restore the details particular to the four townhouses. Haddington House marks a new chapter in this landmark Victorian building.
“We hope Haddington House becomes a ‘home away from home’ for locals and visitors alike.”
